Honoring Norm Larson
One of the first things Norm did with his first scanner was a “3D selfie”

Norm Larson owned Centre Pointe Consultants since he started the company back in 1996, and he was a very good friend of Contour’s over the years. In fact, Norm and Steve Woods had been close friends and they both have family members who worked at Centre Pointe Consultants who are now working at Contour Engineering.
Norm Larson passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2020, and he is greatly missed by so many. We have heard nothing but wonderful things about him from friends, colleagues and clients who have called in and learned about his passing. In fact one colleague described Norm as a “real surveyor’s surveyor.”
From Stephen Woods, PLS
Director of Surveying at Contour Engineering LLC
Norm received a lot of respect from his peers, for good reason, because he made surveying look easy. Surveying was a joy for him to do, to figure out a problem from mathematical to scientific—and everything else he could bring to the table. Like with his 3D printing: parts for equipment that we use every day, to the battery holders, revamping charging systems, hotspot holders, and more.
I started working for Norm on his birthday in 1993. His mentorship contributed to my success in the surveying business and when I began working at Contour Engineering, we remained colleagues and good friends.
Norm was a huge fan of the Seahawks and the Seattle Thunderbirds and he loved playing in our long standing fantasy football league. He really loved interacting with everyone. He also excelled in learning. He absolutely could read anything, understand it, and was able to give an opinion rapidly. And he loved his employees. He really did. He wanted them to be the best. That's what he expected, and that could put pressure on people, but we were all better for it.
