Field Survey / Party Chief

Contour Engineering, LLC is a well-established land surveying and engineering firm based in Gig Harbor. We are looking to fill the position of a Field Survey/Construction Party Chief for immediate hire.

Contour Engineering LLC, is a full service Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, and Land Planning consulting firm located in Gig Harbor. Contour was formed in 2006 by Brett Allen, P.E. and has since grown to 35 employees as we look to further expand. We offer quality engineering and land surveying services of civic and public works-related projects, with Contour and our staff having worked in nearly every jurisdiction in the Puget Sound Region.

JOB TITLE: Field Survey/Construction Party Chief - Level 3

• Responsible for managing small to large field projects to include construction staking, boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA and GPS control. Strong knowledge of calculation of construction projects. Must be able to communicate and outline field crews on project needs and staking. Must be able to manage time, understand budgets, perform field work associated with construction and boundary work. This position will work directly with the Survey Crew Manager and the Professional Land Surveyor to accomplish daily tasks. Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with agencies, clients, contractors, and Contour Engineering LLC.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• Minimum five years of field experience working in construction layout.

• Ability to do field reconnaissance of a site searching for property corners, set up and traverse control for a field survey, have some knowledge of reading construction plans.

• Position requires working mostly forty hour weeks with occasional overtime or weekend projects

• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test if requested and have a clean driving record

• Valid Washington Driver's License

Minimum Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED.

• Reliable transportation to and from work.

• Strong mathematical background.

Physical Requirements:

• Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.

• Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.

• Will lift, push or pull objects on an occasional basis.

• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.

• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.

• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.

• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, mask, vest, etc.).

• Will interact with people frequently during a shift/work day.

• May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.

• Smoking is not allowed on Contour Project Sites, in the building or in company vehicles.
